Substantive editing is a comprehensive edit in which we apply instructional system design techniques.

We will analyse the document's audience, intended use, content, design, organization, and style.

This in-depth editing takes place before copyediting or proofreading. We ensure that the overall content of your document is presented in a logical manner to which the intended audience can relate.

Substantive editing may require rewriting or reorganizing part or all of your document to ensure the structure is well organized and the content is correct and complete.

As we update the content, we will perform further edits to ensure that all the content fits together in a unified voice.

Copyediting

What's the difference between copyediting and proofreading? Copyediting involves more substantial changes.

We ensure that the copy contains no spelling or grammar errors (proofreading) and also edit the copy to ensure that it meets your reader's expectations and needs.

We will fix run-on sentences, ensure the content is correct and consistent, and suggest alternative words, or sentences if necessary, as well as provide other comments that can improve your work.

If formatting is an issue for you, we can review the styles you use to ensure they're consistently used. You can also send us unformatted text and we will format it for you.
